Music is an integral part of the curriculum here at Eight Mile Plains State School.  Students from Prep to year seven receive a weekly lesson from the specialist music teacher.  During these weekly lessons, students explore music through singing a variety of genres, playing melodic and percussion instruments, listening to various genres of music, writing rhythms/melodies and responding to various aspects and elements of music.

Students also have the opportunity to take part in the school choir, which is available to all students of the school.  Members of the school choir perform at various events within and outside the school grounds.
Students also have the opportunity to learn a musical instrument with the instrumental teacher, who  visits Eight Mile Plains each week.  The instrumental program here at Eight Mile Plains State School involves Woodwind, Brass and Percussion.  These groups form to make a school band who regularly perform at various event within and outside the school.
